Abstract

This document describes the reference architecture for the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4 solution based on the Lenovo ThinkSystem platform. The document provides a technical overview of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, which is a containerized workload orchestration software. We cover the functional aspects of OpenShift components including the Kubernetes, CRI-O, OCS, external storage, administrator perspective, and developer perspective. We introduce LOC-A (Lenovo Open Cloud - Automation) for automatic deployment of OpenShift. and provide an architecture overview and implementation of Red Hat OpenShift on top of Lenovo ThinkSystem platform.

The reference architecture is intended for IT decision makers, infrastructure and application architects looking to plan and implement On-Prem container cloud. Knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, cloud, and data center infrastructure architecture will be helpful.
