Abstract

With the massive growth of data from the Internet of Things (IOT) to collaboration to compliance, users are demanding low-cost, flexible, easy to scale, and simple to manage data center storage solutions. Software-defined object storage delivers on these demands by capitalizing on industry standard x86 infrastructure and storage technologies to deploy more economic and manageable storage solutions compared to legacy storage architectures.

The Lenovo Storage DX8200C powered by Cloudian appliance integrates Cloudian’s HyperStore software-defined storage on Lenovo platforms to enable enterprises to efficiently and affordably meet their growing data needs and rapidly respond to business demands.

This document describes the reference architecture (RA) for the Lenovo Storage DX8200C powered by Cloudian appliance, and is a direct result of collaboration between Lenovo and Cloudian. The DX8200C is part of Lenovo’s StorSelect Software Defined Storage (SDS) family, in which Lenovo partners with leading SDS ISVs to offer turnkey SDS solutions on proven Lenovo platforms.

The RA gives an overview of the DX8200C product and components. The RA also shows deployment considerations using a variety of networking products. Finally, it includes guidance on how to size each part of the solution. An appendix lists the appliance part number and the networking hardware bill of materials.

The intended audience of this document is IT professionals, technical architects, sales engineers, and consultants to assist in planning, designing, and implementing a Lenovo DX8200C solution.
