The Lenovo Open Cloud Automation (LOC-A) software solution helps to rapidly deploy, optimize, and manage cloud infrastructure for bare metal servers, containers and VMs.
The cloud deployment process often involves manual steps and processes that benefit from some level of automation tools that exist. However, this process is sequential, time-consuming and error prone.
At the Edge, the deployment process is even more complicated by specific physical constraints such as: the sheer number of sites, the distance between sites, the diversity of edge environments and so on. These challenges make edge infrastructure deployment automation a must. Lenovo Open Cloud Automation has been developed specifically for solving all of these challenges.
High-Level scope for Lenovo Open Cloud Automation
LOC-A’s end-to-end automation approach simplifies and streamlines the cloud deployment processes. LOC-A is an automation platform that orchestrates the entire chain of events/tools from hardware configuration to RedHat® OpenShift® and networking layer configuration.
It automates cloud and edge deployments, enabling Enterprises and Cloud Providers to accelerate time to value, simplify operations and be cost effective.
With support for Red Hat OpenShift, LOC-A automates both deployment and on-going cloud life-cycle management operations.
LOC-A comprises of a set of containerized services that help deploy end-to-end cloud solutions and integrates with existing management platforms through REST APIs.
It can deploy the needed cloud infrastructure for workloads that a cloud service provider may deploy, including VMs, containers and bare metal platforms. New clusters and compute nodes can be automatically integrated into the existing infrastructure in real-time. Scaling to hundreds of servers and thousands of edge locations is seamless.

Red Hat OpenShift subscriptions and supported versions
Lenovo Open Cloud Automation supports Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform versions 4.10 and 4.12 (Red Hat Extended Update Support is required for running older versions of OpenShift). Running Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and OpenShift Container Platform Plus requires a subscription.
