Mr. Fan is a Director for Machine Learning in the AI Lab at Lenovo, Beijing. He received his Master of Computer Science degree from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2007. Before joining Lenovo, he worked as a researcher at Ricoh Software Research Center and a Research Manager of Fujitsu R&D Center. In Fujitsu, he was in charge of the research of document processing and analysis technology. He delivered the industry’s most accurate handwritten Chinese character recognition system using AI that mimics the human brain. As the tech lead, he played a critical role in the strategic cooperation between Fujitsu and the National Bureau of Statistics of China. He successfully applied machine learning and image recognition technology to the National Census, National Economic Census, and other large-scale government projects. He is a committee member of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance (AIIA) and the China Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG). Mr. Fan holds 30+ patents and has published 40+ academic papers in the field of pattern recognition and machine learning with 542 peer citations.
